Social networking use is on the rise, with young adult women leading the way as the “power users” .

The Pew Internet and American life research (a non-profit think tank) just published that 65% of online adults are now using social networking sites, with 18-29 year old females making the most use out of the tools. This use data is recent, collected this past May 2011. In this recent study, gender and age proved to be the significant determiners of engagement in social networking, not race, class, education, geographic location, or income.
